My mom bought the first 3 books in this series when my brother was in elementary school, but he was never interested, so they sat on the shelf for a while. I've been in need of a book that was totally out of the ordinary from what I read, so I figured, why not?
The reviews are right, this is a really good book. I've chosen not to see the movies, so I was able to create my own imaginitive vision of the events that unfolded, and this book did an excellent job of describing things in vivid detail.

My second time reading this book and I think I liked it even more this time. You instantly fall in love with the characters and the story telling. It brings me back to the books of my childhood and the glory I found in reading!

I don't think I'll ever be able to rate this book objectively. I just love this story and the characters so much. I've always felt these books were meant to be illustrated and Jim Kay was such a perfect choice for this series. His art style is absolutely spot on when it comes to the feelings this story evokes. Everything from the little splotches on the pages to the incredibly detailed two-page spread of Hagrid's Hut just brought the story and this world even more to life. I can't wait to see wh ...more

This is my first time reading a Harry Potter book, though I watched the movies with my son as they came out. I get the love for the series (lovable characters and lots of adventures). Will I rush to read the rest? No probably one a year in the Fall sounds good.
The takeaway: all books teach you things even if you’re not realizing it.
