This book really teeters between 4 and 5 stars, the only reason it isn't definitively 5 stars was the beginning took a little too long to crystalize into a clear picture of where the story was going. I don't mind vagueness or mystery but as the story progressed the unknown things became beautifully whittled down leaving a really fascinating and introspective developments for all the characters. The ending DEFINITELY made up for a lackluster beginning (and honesty most of the middle).

A secret is a strange thing. There are three kinds of secrets. One is the sort everyone knows about, the sort you need at least two people for. One to keep it. One to never know. The second is a harder kind of secret: one you keep from yourself. Every day, thousands of confessions are kept from their would-be confessors, none of these people knowing that their never-admitted secrets all boil down to the same three words: I am afraid. And then there is the third kind of secret, the most hidden...more

Love. Love. Love. Did I mention love? This series continues to OWN me.
I love Blue, and I love each of The Raven Boys. I love how they very specifically are each their own person, with their own flaws, reasons and reactions to everything. I love that we slowly grow through everyone in Blue's book originaly, and this one everyone is still growing, figuring out who they are, what they want, what they might be, and who they might or might not each love.

I picked up an ARC at the ALA conference, and I liked this one even better than the first - nice increase in plot and character complexity, nice raising of stakes. I thought I might lose interest with the shift towards Ronan's perspective in this book, but the opposite happened. Can't wait to read what happens next...oh, but I have to, don't I? Sigh. It's going to be a long wait.

I am really enjoying this series and the 2nd book has ended with us spiraling headfirst into book 3. Ronan has become so much more interesting, as has Adam. I'm curious to see how the prophecy of the first book comes into play - so much that I'm looking forward to reading!

I want to like this so much more than I actually do. I cannot for the life of me understand what I'm missing in these Raven Cycle books. I love the characters and the plot...Maybe it is my problem?

I continue to like this series and I am kind of surprised at that. But, the characters get to you and the mystery slowly unfolds. Mr. Grey is best.
