I feel like I've read a lot of books that deal with either a) an affair or b) amnesia over the past few months. This one had both. Wheeee! I'm never comfortable with extramarital affairs, but I was equally uncomfortable with the way the husband treated the main character. I was a lot more forgiving of the historic love affair than the modern day one also told in this book. I was actually a lot more interested in the historic story than the modern day one in general.

A perfectly lovely and easy read. The first half of the story goes back and forth between London 1960 and 1964. We meet Jennifer and Anthony - they fall helplessly in love but circumstances may keep them apart. Jennifer is married. The two write letters back and forth, will they risk everything or will Jennifer stay in her loveless but safe marriage? The second half of the book is told through Ellie's eyes. She is living in London, 40 years later and stumbles upon one of Jennifer and Anthony let ...more

She's done it again. She sucked me in and hooked me quickly. This story...the way the book was written...there's just something about it. Moyes has a way of telling love stories so they're not sappy nor over-the-top. This one left me with a great, big SIGH...........! (a good sigh, that is!) ...more
