Okay, I finally finished this book. I thought it was okay, and it defintely got better as I got into it. I still wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I felt that it never really got going. It was if there was a constant buildup but no real climax. it just kinda fizzled out at the end, just as you were drawn into the story and it was going somewhere. it never really dealt with the science fiction aspect or the organ donating aspect. it was just a nebulus cloud above those things withough touching dow ...more

This REALLY reminded me of The Unit in terms of theme. A somewhat possible alter-world/future that reeks of technology and disease, yet the text really keeps that information in the background, focusing on the tumult in the affected characters lives instead. Loved it. ...more

I intentionally avoided this book for years, because I knew the twist so thought I wouldn't like it. Obvs I am stupid.

My biggest frustration is wanting to know MORE about this society: surely there are pockets of resistance, people who try to intentionally vanish, etc etc. So tantalizing to keep the focus so human and small. ...more
