This was pretty awesome. I wasn't as consumed with the story as I was with The Way of Kings but I doubt I'll ever read anything that epic again in my lifetime. I will say this, the narrator (Michael Kramer) has shot up to the top of my all time favorites. He is spectacular. Despite the numerous amount of characters in this book he had no problem giving them each their own unique sound. He is just a pleasure to listen to.

I am so glad I finally read this book. I've seen the author and this series kicking around in my periphery for a long time (I guess up to 9 years, looking at the original publication date!) but it just happened along on a good Kindle deal recently, so finally I did.
Such a cool magic system, really believable and understandable, but still absolutely magical. It reminded me of falling in love with Melanie Rawn's Sunrunners for the first time all those years ago :)

That was as good as the many people that I've heard rave about it promised it to be. Yes, it took me a long time to finish-most high fantasy does for me. The process of letting a new world become real to me, learning how it's magic system works, and dealing with lots of boring travel/planning sessions tends to bore me into reading other things while I wade through it all. Once the action takes off and the world becomes real to me then I am hooked.

It took a long time to finish reading this. Partially because I knew it would be such a good read and once I started it would eventually have to end. Having read some other works by Brandon Sanderson, I've come to expect his 'formula'. And even though there are some things one can expect and 'see' happening even from the start, there's still so much to enjoy.
