I generally don't read poetry, but I used to, and I know what I like. This poetry book came highly recommended to me from a friend, but it turns out that the two poetry styles I like the least (tritely-rhyming short lines and long paragraph-style stanzas) are the two styles most represented in this collection. I'll give Leav some credit in that the poems certainly touched on the highs, lows, and uncertainties of being in a romantic love relationship and then its absence from your life. Two or th ...more

I have a deep abiding love for Leav and I'm starting my way through the hardcover collection of hers I've been slowly collecting in my house. I love just how much punch she can pack into 3-4 lines, whether it's anger or hurt or fear or love. I find my breath caught everywhere where it comes to her, and I'm really going to enjoy reading all of her pieces in linear order this go. ...more
