I really really really enjoyed this. Quiet, threaded with loneliness, but beautiful. My favorites were the first (A Temporary Matter) and last (The Third and Final Continent).

Most of the stories have sad endings - just exactly what I'm looking for! The sentences were flowing beautifully and I love how Jhumpa Lahiri described the longing feeling of home. Where is home, exactly? A place where all things familiar are there? How does it feel to be born in a country where nothing made sense for your ancestors? This book is full with questions, but gladly, the writer didn't try too hard to answer them.

I don't usually read short story collections; however, this was recommended to me, so I decided to give it a chance. I am glad that I did. I would definitely recommend this collection; I really enjoyed each and every story. Lahiri is a great writer.
