I really enjoyed this book - there were points where I felt confused by the complex rules of the worlds it's set in, but I think that's because I was reading too fast because I wanted to know what would happen next. I wasn't as into the romance angle, it felt contrived, but it was really a very side bit and hopefully will be fleshed out better in future books. The concept of the Library was wonderful and I loved the mix of magic and steampunk and fantasy. I can't wait to read the next one! ...more

An interesting premise which suffers in its being so much the setup for sequels. Why were certain mysteries not resolved? Not because of any intrinsic ambiguity, but more to motivate further book purchases. And it requires a bizarre lack of curiosity on the part of the heroine.

It’s nearly a really fun page-turner. And there are elements of the steam/magic scenario which has potential. And the Library power is quite possibly the niftiest thing in the book (except for one use that’s a bit of a che ...more

This is a fun book with action hero librarians running around collecting books from multiple dimensions. I think the world building could be a little more solid, but I’m interested to read more in the series.
