I probably shouldn't have read this book. I'm not sure what positive things I could have possibly taken away from it. Jaycee exhibits an admirable spirit, resilience and her efforts toward recovery are incredible. She seems to have a good head on her shoulders and priorities like keeping her kids out of the public eye, getting help to work through her experiences, and reconnecting with the things that matter to her. I don't know what to say about this book. True enough, it was both an easy and hard read. I can't say I "liked" it - - - certainly not what happened to this girl/woman ... but I did like her spirit of perseverance.

Quick read. Was ok. I didn't feel connected to her at all while reading it. I felt detached.

Wow, what a story! I can't say it was particularly well written but that just gave her story that much more authenticity. I can only imagine the horrors she must have experienced and to be able to articulate that must have been the ultimate therapy. Her story deserves to be read because she put so much of herself out there in order to tell it.

This was a hard book to read and I cried a lot while reading it. Jaycee Dugard was so young and innocent when she was kidnapped; it's just torture reading about what was done to her (lines from the book kept coming to me in my dreams, interrrupting my sleep all night long). I'm impressed with her ability to honestly and effectively tell her story, and how she was able to survive and maintain a positive outlook.
