i read this in hardback, when it first came out. i picked it up because i was so intrigued by the cover.
then came the paperback, and then came oprah, and we all know the rest. it's too bad, because the writing style is very interesting and i really enjoyed the book itself. in fact, i really, really liked it - so much that i bought My Friend Leonard as soon as it came out (again, in hardback). blah.

I am ignoring the whole fiction/non-fiction debate surrounding this book and using it for entertainment only. I listened to it as an audiobook (which, I imagine, is easier than reading it--I believe there is something odd about its actual text, though I've never looked) and found it riveting.

I was disappointed to see that this was a ripoff story. It had a great number of good lessons in it about addiction....too bad it wasn't true. It would have been a great fiction book!!

Despite the fact that everyone now knows that it isn't really a memoir, that doesn't take away from the fact that this book is just well written. The style is a little odd and confusing at times but the story is great. I couldn't put it down once I started. He has a way of bringing you into the story and making you feel what he feels. I loved it. Couldn't wait to read the second part.

I love his writing style, not just the story itself. He writes just as he is thinking and doesn't follow any rules of grammar.

I don't care how much he made up, I still loved it. So there!
