Of course by now everyone knows about the literary brilliance that was Stieg Larsson. I purposely am taking my time with this series because the characters; though they live on in my memory; died with Larsson. Lisbeth is such a memorable and strangely lovable character. Larsson really knows how to tell a story! I couldn't stop listening (reading) this one - truly great fun. I really like the main character - Lisbeth Salander - because she's not perfect (though a genius). I find female protagonists who aren't perfectly beautiful, who use their heads and who are occasionally completely unlikable to be very refreshing. On to book 3...

I continued to enjoy Simon Vance as a narrator for this one, which I started almost immediately after finishing the audiobook of the previous book.
I liked this book a little more than the first one, though I was disappointed with the number of coincidences required to move the plot along. It's lazy for the author to rely on someone just happening to be walking by at 3am and just happening to see an important event.

Given the opening few pages of the book, I wasn't certain I could go into the gruesomeness and drama of another of Stieg Larsson's books again. However, I forged ahead, and I'm very glad I did. If you liked the first one, you'll like this one - more Lisbeth, but also a long entwined crime plot, lots of side-characters and decoys and excellent relationship writing about the men in Lisbeth's life.
