Wow. I mean.. wow. This is another of those books that you see so much hype about and think there's no way it could be as good as people are saying. Just a moment while I pause and wipe away the tears.

I loved this book! History has always been a subject I enjoy, and the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII is such a fascinating and disturbing part of our nation's history that is often overlooked. I felt the characters were richly drawn, even the minor characters. I am looking forward to reading Jamie Ford's next novel. ...more

In the end, I enjoyed this story. It was poignant, but a difficult read. It never really brought me in, but I was interested enough in the story to slog through it.
