I really did not enjoy this book. As in... finishing it was pure torture. I pressed on and finished it for my one of the tasks (read a book written more than 100 years ago) on my 2015 reading challenge. I started it the week before Halloween thinking a little 200 page creepy book would be a quick read for the holiday. I finished it today - Christmas day - 2 months later. I really enjoyed this book. I admit, that picking up the book, the ONLY thing I knew of this story was about the creation of the monster. That's it, so I had NO idea what to expect, nor how the story played out (or even, the REASON for the creation of this monster). The story read pretty easily once I got used to the style of writing and I ended up reading this in about 4 sittings.

I quite enjoyed it. I think that this book should serve as a cautionary tale about creating something that can get beyond our control and that man's selfishness often creates things that makes us feel as though we are god-like. ...more

This book was very surprising. I always thought Frankenstein was the monster. He's not. He's the creator of the monster. It was a great book on creator/creation relationships.
