It was interesting and very thought provoking. I need to gather my thoughts for a more complete review.

I have now read three Paulo Coelho books -- Veronika Decides to Die, which I loved, The Alchemist, which was ok, and this one. It took me a while to get into this and once I did, I was involved but I don't think I would have finished it if it hadn't been fairly short and a quick read. I just couldn't get myself to like any of the characters, including the narrator (who is almost the only character in the book). Linda feels disconnected from her life. She has a wonderful family and successful newspaper column but feels apathy towards the world around her. This might be the first Paulo Coelho book that I wasn't that jazzed about. I was excited about the premise but as the book developed, I just could not get into the main character. At first, I totally identified with her malaise, being bored with perfection, struggling to find meaning, and pretending so you can get through life. But then she dove off the deep end, leaving me wondering what just happened and making me question how I could have identified with her in the first place. She does cheat
