Re-read this book for a book club meeting. Still found it to be 3 stars worthy. not a great book, but a good one. Gave a point of view of heaven, with details, but not overly focused on it. It was more about the aftermath of the loss of a child as felt by both her family, and her community. People she barely knew missed her more than anyone could ever imagine. A fourteen-year-old girl, raped and murdered by a neighbor, looks down from heaven and watches her family deal with the ramifications of the crime. This has some interesting ideas about those in the afterlife and how close they are to us, and does a great job of describing the pain (and subsequent healing) caused by violence. This would be a great read for a book group. It would elicit lots of discussion.

I enjoyed this book, but it wasn't amazing. It was a good read and one that I read quickly - I wasn't dragging my heels about finishing it - but in the end I didn't sit there and continue to think about it and its characters. Once I was done with it, I was done with it.

Friends kept recommending this book to me and I really just did not enjoy it. I can't describe what exactly I didnt like about it, but it may have to do with the fact that I had just read Alice Sebold's memoir before this and it seemed a bunch of the same old.
