By far the LONGEST book that I've read so far this year! This hefty tome clocked in at over 900 pages. BUT, I love Murakami and was really looking forward to reading this one.
The book's chapters alternate between the various protagonists. The main 2 characters are Tengo & Aomame, who are both 30 and living in Tokoyo in 1984 (or is it 1Q84???).

As a whole, the story was pretty interesting. It was a little drawn out and some parts were just dull. The dialogue was stilted and awkward in a way that would have made George Lucas proud. I made my way through this but only with a relief at having done so; maybe Murakami is not my cup of tea, maybe I just don't "get it". Either way, this was more of a chore than an enjoyment.

Very slow to start, and very strange. but, I loved the ending and I did get caught up in the strange love story. You have to step outside your boundaries of normal to enjoy this book, but I did not find myself too skeptical of this 'Other World'. Well written and a book I am glad I read.

Just couldn't get in to it. Made it 25% and couldn't see the point in finishing.
