[close] I have always been an animal lover and had been meaning to read this book for years. I knew having seen the movie that it would be a tear-jerker. In turns you are crying tears from laughing so hard, others with more serious sources. Anyone who loves animals, especially dogs, should read this. It really is great.

So I'm actually one of those who tend to sway to the Molly Mormon side of things (okay, okay; I’m a stick-in-the-mud goody-two-shoes), and consequently I’ve got to preface my whole review by saying that Marley and Me will probably not be available at Deseret Book anytime soon. It’s not that it’s full of inappropriate language, sex, and violence (if it was a movie, I’m not even sure it would go to PG-13), but there’s some of that kind of thing included. Anyone who has shared their life with a companion animal will "get" this book. It is riotously funny in some sections, but be warned. You will require a box of Kleenex for the last 40 pages or so, and probably for a good while after you read the last page. I was reading by book light next to my sleeping husband, and I'm ...more

Shelves: 2007-reads, non-fiction, humor, autobiography-memoir

I read this book just after getting a dog of my own, who is not quite as badly-behaved as Marley, but nearly so. It was fun to read and gave some insight into why we put up with the smelly, disobedient beasts.

Shelves: memoir

Our family also had a beloved (crazy!) yellow lab named Frankie who lived 12 glorious years. I highly recommend this book to other dog lovers out there.
