I could not put this book down. Piper makes you feel like you're right there in prison with her, as you get to know the other inmates and experience what they all experience. The transition from her past to the printed page is so real. Well written.

I like the book better than the TV show; I have no sympathy for Piper Chapman. This Piper - Piper Kerman - this Piper I prefer. Yes, she screwed up, yes, she made terrible choices, but her time in prison made her strong and resilient. Hats off to Lar ...more

Confieso que me acerqué al libro después de haber visto la serie, más específicamente después de haber leído un artículo donde decía que no había muchas similitudes entre ambas obras. ¿Habría leído el libro sin haber visto la serie? Probablemente no. En verdad son muy diferentes, prácticamente sólo el planteamiento es similar. De todas maneras me gustaron los dos.

I’m a big fan of the show, and the show stuck pretty close to the book in the first two seasons, so all of my reactions to the book are similar to my reactions to the show. I liked the sensitivity Kerman shows to most of her fellow inmates, and I appreciated her detailed, exacting descriptions of just how fucked up, unfair, and futile the criminal justice system is, especially re nonviolent drug offense mandatory sentencing.
