Unlike most trilogies, this second book was just as good, if not better, than the first. I can't wait to read the last book! I have to say I thoroughly enjoy the fact that there is no love triangle in this series either. Just Four and Tris. :)

This book is like cotton candy: it's not really particularly good, but yet I JUST CAN'T STOP. My thoughts while reading the first chapter: "wow this first person present-tense is SUPER annoying! I don't remember Divergent being this annoying ... I'm not sure if I want to even read this ..." Next thing I know: "holy crap it's 2am and the only reason I'm setting this book down is that my head aches from reading for so long."

Not quite as successful as the first book - some of the character conflict got really tedious and I didn't find it as believable as the first book. Still, some good stuff here and I definitely plan to read book 3.

The 2nd book is also very good and I really can't wait for the 3rd book to come out. I appreciate that Roth isn't afraid of killing off people when it needs to happen to progress the story.

Eh, 2 1/2. The stretched out story and big reveal, and the dumbness of the "gasp"-inducing secret, were killing it for me. That, and the writing.

Better in the second half, but mainly predictable and fairly weak. So YA. And yet at the end of it I realized I still want to know where they'll end up. Sadly this is another series I think will have a better second movie than second book...
