A heartbreaking and frustrating memoir, and yet I liked it. In fact, I was totally engrossed; the writing really pulled me in. This is a book about two parents who are, in essence, neglecting their children -- but almost as a choice, as though they are using their neglect to teach them to "make it" in the world. An endearing story of a girl who grows up in poverty with interesting parents and life stories. I enjoyed it and it inspired me to try to remember incidents from my past and write them down for posterity or entertainment value (:
I enjoyed reading this book but I'm not sure if I'd definitely recommend it because some parts weren't easy. Not that reading is about easy. But you know.
