Re-read in March 2020 in preparation for reading Ahern's latest release, Postscript, which is a follow up to PS I Love You! I remembered the general idea of PS I Love You from my previous reading of it in 2014, but I really enjoyed revisiting the characters and story. I stand by my original review - very genuine, real-life, real-emotion feel. Happy to have re-read it!

Picked this up because I enjoyed the movie adaptation so much, and, well -- I'm glad I saw the movie first, because I wouldn't have gone to see based on this book. I mean, it was fine. The premise is engaging -- dead man helping his grieving wife to move on with her life through a series of letters he left for her -- but the writing was just so painfully purple that I nearly chucked it across the room a couple of times.

I enjoyed this book, but found seeing the movie first took away so much of the "discovery" for me. Normally, I'm fine with seeing a movie first then reading the book... it's not ideal, but I'm fine with it. But with P.S. I Love You, I found the book lost some spark with it.
I found the story to be very emotional, it did make me tear up often, and many times I quickly grabbed my husband's hand while reading how Holly missed Gerry.
All in all, it was a good read. I would recommend it to others.

I loved it. I didn't expect to like it, but I really did. There were parts that were similar to that of the movie, but I actually found the book to be actually more engaging than that of the movie, as the book went more indepth. Beautiful book :)

I couldn't get into this book. I liked the movie version, and I couldn't get the movie out of my head when I was trying to read the book. I liked the changes made for the movie at least as far as I made it in th book.

A bit of a downer - I must admit. I loved that this book was set in Dublin but I found it quite sad and it didn't really let up. The ending wasn't too great either BUT a good debut from a young author.

Good book for the beach. The writing was sort of 'choppy' at points, but the storyline was good.

If you cried at the movie, the book is even more emotional, but it's fantastic.
