Shelves: ya-fiction, coming-of-age

Ehhhh....I know a lot of people who either loved or hated this book and I am sort of stuck in the middle. There were a lot of things that worked for me, and many that didn't. The writing style will either annoy you or be one of those things that draws you in right away. I liked it and thought it did well to add to the dramatic tone. Eh. While I admit I didn't see the punchline coming, it wasn't built up to be suspenseful, which is what I was hoping for out of this book.

Strangely enough I read this book just after reading The Bookseller, and was amazed at how two seemingly disparate books had basically the same twist. Odd the way that works sometimes, isn't it?
