I originally read Wuthering Heights in high school and it has been "the only book I know I hate" whenever I find myself talking about such things. I remembered not liking the characters and finding both generations of Heathcliffs and Catherines unnecessarily dramatic and manipulative.

It took me a while to get into this book after not having read it for years and years. I really liked it--Heathcliff totally creeps me out and the original Catherin is ridiculous, but I love the Catherine/Hareton ending.

I first read this is in college not for a class, but because it was one of the classics that I was told I must read, and that I would either love it or hate it. I searched the college library for it and found it was MIA. Someone either loved it so much they kept it or hated it so much they saw fit to get rid of it.
The story is a gothic, psychological tale of love,and hate; life and death and the thin veil that separates the two.

I had to give up on this one. Classic it may be, but I am unable to stand any of the characters and I don't care about the story. It's time to move on.
