I first read this in the fifth grade and understood none of it. I read it again as a sophomore in college and was completely blown away by the scope of the plot, the viciousness of the characters, and the modernity of the theme. Amazing. Are there six stars? I originally read Wuthering Heights in high school and it has been "the only book I know I hate" whenever I find myself talking about such things. I remembered not liking the characters and finding both generations of Heathcliffs and Catherines unnecessarily dramatic and manipulative.

I first read this is in college not for a class, but because it was one of the classics that I was told I must read, and that I would either love it or hate it. I searched the college library for it and found it was MIA. Someone either loved it so much they kept it or hated it so much they saw fit to get rid of it.
The story is a gothic, psychological tale of love,and hate; life and death and the thin veil that separates the two.
