I was prompted to read "a book you loved as a child." I decided to revisit Eight Cousins by Louisa May Alcott, which I had not reread for a good many years. The story centers around Rose Campbell, an orphan who has been raised primarily by her invalid, bookish father, spent some time in boarding school, and has lived for a year with her great-aunts, Peace and Plenty, under the watchful and often disagreeing eyes of several aunts-by-marriage. It was harder to read than other Alcott novels, but it was sweet. It is mostly a treatise on moral fortitude and child rearing.
This was a good book. Nice and cozy, and absorbing. I just wanted to climb into the book and make myself at home. Loved it!
