I have struggled with this book for the last three days. I was tempted more than once to put it down and just not finish it. At the 50 page mark, 100 page mark, 150 pages mark.. each milestone I struggled with that temptation and each time I made myself read a little bit more.

Contrary to what the GoodReads summary says about Slaughterhouse-Five, this was not book that contained an "ease of reading" for me. It took a bit for me to grow accustomed to the jumping about through time and space to fol ...more

I tried so hard to like this book. It is so popular and gets such great reviews, and I have had it on a list to read for years. But, I hate the whole random time travle thing, the random aliens that you learn little about, and just the scatteredness of the story. I am glad I gave it a try, but I would never reread or even recommend this book.

[2005 review.] I've had this sitting on my shelf for ages, but never read it since I, um, thought it would be boring because it's famous. Instead it's a fast, fascinating, unusual read, very powerful, a melange of war stories and science fiction and a world that doesn't make sense.
