I've read a lot of fairy tale retellings. There aren't a lot of rewrites of Little Red Riding Hood that I've come across though there are a few. Most of them are just meh. This one is fabulous. Lunar Chronicles, book two.

I liked this one better than Cinder, mostly because Scarlet is a great character and I enjoyed watching her relationship with Wolf develop.

The story goes back and forth between Cinder and Scarlet, with Cinder making her escape as Scarlet sets out to rescue her grandmother, who has been kidnapped by those who will do anything to find the missing Lunar princess. Emperor Kai grows up a smidge and a few lightbulbs pop on (though he's still in the dark about some things). ...more
