I had forgotten how political this book was in the decade since I read it originally. It's such a wonderful book and it's so smart. It blows me away with how well thought out the world is, how you actually kinda LIKE the Wicked Witch of the West. It's just a brilliant piece of writing.

Hated it so much I had to stop reading it.
I have tickets for Wicked in February, so I wanted to be prepared. I've never read any of Baum's originals, but I was intrigued by the social/political/religious/ethical dilemmas that Maguire's Oz faced. I'm having a hard time imagining which parts of this epic will be included in the musical, but I'm excited to find out.

I thought this book was really interesting. It certainly makes you think of the Wizard of Oz in a completely different way. I have to give it a thumbs up, and I would love to see the musical someday.
I did like it but it was hard to read.
