George R.R. Martin is one of the giants in the fantasy world today, and rightly so. He is a master of storytelling, world building and his characters command so much attention it's difficult to put them aside in favor of doing things like, you know, eating, sleeping and working.

Excellent book, totally engrossing. Martin manages to juggle a large number of characters and a complicated plot, and I never lost interest. Can't wait to read the rest of the series!

Very good story line. I watched the first 3 or so episodes of the series before starting the book and that probably helped me to keep the characters easily seperated in my mind. There were definitely some slow parts though that led me to set the book down easily and not look forward to picking it back up. Because of that I give this book 3.5 stars.

Brilliant, loved it. Can't wait to start on the next one.
