2 stars because it took too long to get exciting. And that can get pretty boring especially in a book over 500 pages. I also found the entire section where they were following and reporting on the presidential campaign extremely dull. I don't care about politics in my zombie books. I care about zombies. Unfortunately there were only a couple of zombie attack scenes in this entire 593 page book. I might pick up book 2 because I really liked the Shaun character. We'll see. ...more

Perfect pandemic reading. No really. This is a book about the world going on after a zombie disease is released and the world has to adapt to the constant threat. There are moments where the book falls into silliness, especially the completely cliched religious-fanatic villain, but overall this was entertaining and well realized. Shelves: horror

In a future where we’ve cured both cancer and the common cold, humans have once again created unintended consequences that are worse than the original problems. The interaction between the two cures has created a new disease that causes the dead to rise, driven only to feed and spread the contagion.

So, I didn’t love this, partly because I’m tired of zombies in general and partly because this book was at least 200 pages too long.
