What a powerful book! At times it was hard to read knowing exactly what trouble Bigger Thomas was getting himself into. Then, almost like seeing a horrific traffic accident on the highway, I found that I could not look away. Set in Chicago in the 1930s, the street names and neighborhoods are all too familiar and probably the same streets as a 21st century Bigger Thomas would encounter the same problems.
