I liked this.
Sweet, yet at times a touch saccharin for my taste.

All the feels. Have a tissue at hand and be prepared to laugh out loud at times.

I have some issues with domestic violence and there were several times, both early on and well into the book, that I almost quit listening. I'm glad I stayed with it. There was a reveal close to the end (I don't want to give any spoilers) that gave me a much better understanding and appreciation of Eleanor and everything she overcame to get where she is. I LOVE her character (and I'm cheering for Raymond, too).

I think this would be a great bookclub selection - note to self for 2019!

Eleanor is such an interesting character! If you can suspend disbelief that a person can change as rapidly as she does over the course of a few months after a lifetime of operating in another (self-protective) manner, this is an interesting and mostly enjoyable read.

3.5 stars. I was going to DNF it but I’m glad I didn’t. I didn’t find it particularly funny, witty, but humorous not so much. But I did find the friendship between Eleanor and Raymond and her recovery from trauma inspiring to read.

Surprisingly painful and heartfelt.

I really recommend the audiobook. The performance is stellar.
