I was at high school when I read this book, and it became one of the books I remembered for years.
I finally picked Rebecca back up after I read somewhere that there was a plot twist I stopped just short of revealing. While I found the second half of the book much more enjoyable, I still can't say I particularly liked the book. I do understand that it was written long ago & literary devices / expectations were not the same, but I just could NOT get over how much I hated the main character.
