Honestly 4.5 but rounding up because the sum of its individual parts make the whole a wonderful and thoughtful read.

Wow. This book is why I read fiction. The author made me look at my assumptions about people I only know from news headlines and see them as human beings. I cared about each of the characters and was rooting for each of them, even when that meant I was rooting for conflicting outcomes! It was also a page-turner; I couldn’t read it fast enough. Highly recommend; I’d give this one 6 stars if I could.

I finished this book with my pulse racing and my heart pounding in my ears. It started as a slow burn but then wrapped me up tightly in its arms and squeezed the life out of me. I’ll be thinking about this one for years to come.

This book was like a drink of fresh, clear water. I cared about the characters, there was plot and lyricism and a parallel to Antigone which made it even richer. It had everything.
