I listened to this as an audiobook, read by the incomparable Juliet Stevenson. As I was listening to it, I thought to myself "This is really beautiful writing." And then I listened to a podcast, in which the host and her guest agreed that "beautiful" writing is code for "boring" writing. And I then had to consider if Mrs. Dalloway might be a boring read.
