Fascinating subject matter that takes a dark turn more than once, but MY GOD does the author need better direction if she's going to narrate her own work for an audiobook.

I nearly cried at the “opal of my own” story. Jahren is a gifted writer and has such a distinctive narrative voice. We are lucky she uses it to uplift and explain science and discovery.
