I like salt a lot. I like salty foods, and chips are my weakness. I live next to a town called Salina, and we have a Salt Museum near the lake**. This area was first settled because of the salt springs. So maybe I've spent too much time thinking about salt, because this book was a bit of a snooze, it didn't really surprise me with lots of new tidbits. (Note: there’s plenty I didn’t know, but most of it didn’t jump out at me as interesting.)

A ridiculously detailed account of the history of salt. I learned so much and so many random facts while reading this book. Which I enjoyed. The only problems I encountered was that the book often feels redundant while discussing the many salt works, methods of salt production and trading. However, it is very interesting to see what an effect this mineral has had on humans, commerce, and history.
