I went into The Hate U Give knowing nothing other than that Claire loved it, which is all I need to know to decide to read a book, but now I find myself in the always-awkward position of wanting to review a book while wanting other people to have the same experience I did with it.

If you are craving the answer to some of the one-dimensional reads out there and want something that prompts you to re-examine our urban environments and aspects that divide our society, pick up this book.

The code-switching Starr felt required to engage in and all of the emotional challenges connected with me so much. I hope more people read this book and watch the film.
