2017 Read Harder: POC Goes on a Spiritual Journey
Second Review, June 2017
One of my book clubs selected this book based on my recommendation and I decided to go ahead and reread the book. I read it so fast the first time it was well worth a reread, even just a few months apart. I wanted to update this review to add a few of my favorite parts of the book.

It is also one of the most accessible explanations for why riots happen that I've ever read.

This is such an important book. I am still processing all of it, but I am so impressed with the depth of exploration into the characters' lives and the assessment of race relations and inequality in America, while being essentially a YA book. One of my top books of the year.

Powerful. This is a powerful story. I'm overwhelmed by the beauty and truth of Starr's story. Read this, everyone!
