A quick read. Some of the prose was beautiful I thought. I liked how she described her relationship with Suzanne, that was the part that rang really true for me (and which seemed like the real focus of the book). I didn't care at all about the stuff that was happening "present day," but there wasn't much of that, so I guess the author didn't, either. And the description of the terrible night at the end of the book (that isn't a spoiler) didn't really work for me for some reason, it was boring.

Shelves: fiction

The best thing I can say about this book is that it was a very quick read. I hated the writing from the get-go--so overwritten as to be painful. I almost abandoned it & I probably should have, but it was all I had on a trip, so I soldiered on. I would not advise anyone else to do the same.
