So this one is actually not as engaging as I've hoped for. I long for more action, craziness, inside stories of the cult (inspired by Manson Family). But apparently, this book is more about contemplation, family drama and the ever observant heroine, Eve Boyd, both in her teenage girl when she was pulled into the cult, and in her olden days, where loneliness and stagnancy become the major part of her life. I might actually only give this 2.5 stars, but moving it up a bit because I liked the writing. The story was odd, the past to present flashbacks were sometimes confusing, and it was all together a depressing subject. But I stuck it out to the end, to find out what happened. The culmination was slightly flat and expected.

It took me a while to warm up to this story - in fact, I almost stopped reading it, but kept going as I forgot to get myself another book before bed one night. Once you get through the initial setup about the main character's desperate teenage neediness, it picks up and the story was pretty interesting and disturbing.
