What Members Thought

Half The Sky is incredibly well researched and so touching. The authors have traveled extensively throughout the world and have countless stories about women and girls who have been forced into sexual slavery with both happy and sad endings. They appropriately refer to human trafficking as modern slavery and the plight of our century and are able to familiarize the reader with the widespread prevalence of it throughout the world while still maintaining a hopeful tone throughout the book.

This one was a book club pick, otherwise it probably wouldn't have hit my radar. I tend to stay away from "woman's libber" books. Add to that the first several chapters deal with sex trafficking and I thought that was what the whole book was going to be about.
