I really, really, really loved Lawson's first book, so of course I was excited when I saw that she had a second one coming out. Still, I stubbornly made myself hold out for the paperback. (I only have so much shelf space, okay? Every millimeter counts!) When my husband handed me a gift card to spend at the bookstore for Valentine's Day, I spent ages wandering around trying to figure out how to best maximize its value, but when I saw this in paperback, part of my decision was instantly made.

I definitely admire Jenny Lawson for writing so frankly about mental illness, and I think she's funny in general. I think this book overall has the same feel a lot of blog-books have for me, where like, this definitely comes across like "a bunch of printed out blog entries and tweets" rather than an essay collection or a real narrative? Loved this, even the bits that felt more rambling and unfocused, because Jenny Lawson is such a stellar example of how you can be brilliant, funny, kind, charming, successful, and still have to claw your way against your brain's diseases and disorders sometimes and to not know if that's even possible sometimes. Like her first book, this is especially hysterical, poignant, and unifying for those of us who recognize her struggles, her triumphs, and her penchant for acquiring taxidermied animals. ( ...more

Sassy, snarky and zany. Best taken a chapter at a time. Otherwise one feels like they've been infected with multiple maladies. ...more

My first Jenny Lawson book. I appreciated how she shares her experience with depression, and gives commentary about the stigma of mental illness. I laughed out loud a few times, but I wouldn't recommend it. ...more
