This is my least favorite Rainbow Rowell book. I think anything mirroring the Harry Potter universe is just not my jam because I read HP years after everyone else did and while I loved the books, it seems that I'm approximately 10% as invested in them as everyone who read them as they came out. This was good and I'm glad I read it, but I won't be rereading and since my non-academic reading time is so limited, I probably would have given up early on if not for book club.

This is the ultimate Harry Potter turned on its head. It's funny, and clever, and full of teenage humor and the occasional cuss word. There are obvious and not-so-obvious secrets and reveals. There are dragons and vampires and pixies and enough other creatures to fill a (small) textbook.
This book fulfills the promise of Fangirl, but I think it would be best read BEFORE reading Fangirl. I'm looking forward to rereading Fangirl for the Simon Snow parts, but I think that there are just enough ...more
