This was beautiful
I read this in Nerd Camp, in the Creative Writing class I took with Imogen. I remember liking it but that's about all I remember. Oh wait I think this was the book talked about "Indians" and we talked about how calling Native Americans Indians is "misrepresenting two cultures." (Unless that was Housekeeping.) I guess I should read it again.

I'm not going to rate this because I just didn't enjoy the narration (even though it was by the author) -- I think it's just me. That definitely affected my enjoyment of this classic, which does valuably depict a lot of the difficulties of growing up Latinx in the United States.

Strong sense of place, almost beautiful, but it felt like something was missing.
