Some crazy person commented on a book that I read a long time ago and basically told me that what I thought about the book was wrong and I missed the point. Absolutely adored the first half of this witty, creative epistolary novel (I LOVE that form...I know some people hate it, but not me!). Lost a bit of steam toward the end, but it's a fun look at parenting and life among the privileged in modern day Seattle - most characters were flawed and most redeemed, so all in all a happy little book.

an extra star for surprise. everyone seemed to be reading this book, so I was put-off. but, surprisingly interesting. and honest. totally get Bernadette's outrage. parenting/life is annoying. and wonderful.

I am torn here, ultimately i felt it was meh, but there were some really shining moments, i laughed out loud more than once. I really struggled getting into the format of the first section, I liked the middle section quite a bit and then the last few bits I struggled with again... I had a hard time picturing Bee as a teenager, she just didnt read as 15 to me, There were a lot of aspects of the story that were rushed over and then a lot of aspects that were micromanaged in a weird way...

I think I loved this novel even more the second time around. It's extra hilarious to read if you're feeling overwhelmed or over-committed with school and children's extra curricular activities. Like a nice juxtaposition of art and life.

I would have given it a 3.5. Solid beach read- even if you weren't really at the beach and visiting family in Houston, Texas instead
