I liked it, but not enough to really say I *liked* it. It was a great concept, but I got very bored in the last half of the story.
The ending was great, though.

I reread this with someone who was reading it for the first time, and there was a lot I had forgotten about in terms of plot. I had forgotten how brutal the survival parts were, and I had forgotten how interesting the religious discussions were. I'm still not sure whether or not I will see the movie, but I can't imagine how it will be able to get across all of the deeper thoughts. The book is very well written, surprising, and thought provoking. ...more

I think I would have enjoyed this book more if I hadn't been fresh off "Unbroken." It turns out I have a very low capacity for harrowing lifeboat stories. ...more

First 97 pages dragged, then became much more of a page turner. Led to interesting discussions with others that had read it - ending lent itself to more questions than answers...
