I think this will be a book that will stick with me for a long time...I don't know if I loved it. It was...very different. Some of it was incredibly engaging. But the ending was certainly confounding, and made me think, and...I am not sure WHAT to think. But in a way I do like the open-endedness of it all. I definitely will remember certain things for a long time to come, such as the island and many other small adventures like that. My roommate told me this book would inspire me to believe in God. It taught me how to train a tiger if I ever find myself sharing a life-boat with one. The writing style is beautiful, but becomes a bit tedious and repetitive at times. The ending was also unsatisfactory and made me angry. In that respect, I guess I did engage with the book more than I originally thought. Shelves: unfinished, fiction-i-could-not-get-into

I kept reading until about halfway through when I decided I was beating a dead horse. I did not remotely connect with this novel. What did it have going for it? Character? Annoying. Setting? I am not particularly fond of nautical. Pacing? Tedious. Does this get any better?
