I read this again because I had just read an essay by Bataille about evil in literature and Wuthering Heights was the first book he discussed and I was surprised – I had never considered WH having any evil. 3.5; I decided to re-read this one after finishing and loving “The Favorites,” which was kind of a modern retelling of Wuthering Heights. I last read it when I was assigned it in high school and hated it, my hope was that re-reading as an adult would change my opinion. For the re-read, I still was not a huge fan, and I think some of that may be due to marketing. This is not a love story, it’s a story about calculated revenge and manipulation.
