This volume was a deception, after New Moon and the changes it might bring to this series. I was hoping for some confrontation, between werewolves and vampires, maybe even some fights and duels. In the beginning it really seems you might get that action, while Bella tries to remain neutral, though her task is somewhat difficult as her choice was already made. But what really disappointed me the most was the other two vertices of the love triangle. But what really disappointed me the most was the other two vertices of the love triangle. Unfortunately Edward tries to become the better person of the book, the one that will give up his loved one not to hurt her, as he did on the second book, and from jealous he turns into a very comprehensive boyfriend, trying not to get between Bella's and Jacob's relationship. Jacob, on the other hand, turns from comprehensive into jealous and manipulator.

The whole book revolves around these 3 characters relationship, which was a bit annoying and boring when I was really hoping that the Seattle's mystery and the whole situation with Victoria would have more prominence. However, just like it happened on the first volume, these elements of action are left to the last part of the book. In my opinion, the book would only gain to resume itself to this part and to the stories of Rosalie, Jasper and of the Quileutes. The story of the last ones was a bit disappointing too, as I thought werewolves were made to destroy vampires, so I was surprised to learn they had become enemies by chance, but it makes the union against Victoria more plausible and satisfactory.

I think this book, besides being very predictable, brought little to the story. It enlightens us when it comes to the author mythology but, as I said, it would be better if it had fewer pages and more action. It seems Meyer is afraid of working around mysteries and action sequences, preferring to evolve relationships that, in my opinion, don't have much more to evolve. Meyer's world and mythology, even though she sets away from the main canon, seems a lot more interesting than Bella's love life, as I don't even care that much about her character. It's a pity the author doesn't stay out of the romance more often; I think she would only gain to have more action on her books. ...more

This one was actually kind of badass. There was a war with vampires and werewolves just fucking shit up all over the place. Oh, also, does Bella even have the use of her legs by the end? She gets carried everywhere. I enjoy making fun of her in my mind as I read along.

Minus one star for excessive cheek-stroking.

Twilight remains the most satisfying and engaging of the series thus far, although I am looking forward to reading the last book in the series. I'm interested to see how Meyer ties up all the loose ends she's opened up through out the three books. ...more

I don't like these books. They're silly. And yet... I simply cannot put them down. Book crack. Just give in- read the series. You'll hate me for it. But you won't really mind.

I thought this was much better than book 2, for the record. And it's killing me not to read the next one until I finish a book for book club. Evil crack books, I tell you. ...more

1) rollicking good yarn
2) writing getting marginally better
3) Bella infinitesimally less annoying
4) Edward actually seems to be growing as a person
